  • Can't adventure anywhere but sewers

Hey, folks. I've been making a good effort to play on Sundren the past week or so, but without much luck.

My PC doesn't have access to any adventuring areas except for the sewers under the city. Isn't there a way for a PC to simply walk down a road to get somewhere?

When I log on, there are usually no DMs and players are in other areas or are AFK.

I went to every NPC available to me, but none opened up the Shaharran Hills or Sunderer's Gate.

I'd really like to play on Sundren, but I'm getting ready to give up.

Just autofollow someone who is moving or ask someone for the map location!

It isnt that hard really; hell Ive even had a go at it!

Just dont ask Malik or Dram, they will charge for map locations

I understand that tactic, but so far, no one's been able to help me: either busy, too far into some other area, or simply afk.

Speak to the dwarf smith in Port Avathar. He will give you quest that will lead you to Exigo's Trade Post. Somewhere near the smith itself there is a gnome with his name colored in green. Speak to him for another quest that leads to Shaharran hills. These are the basic areas for low levels and should get you up running which will result in getting new quests that leads to other new areas.

Otherwise, feel free to poke the players with PM in IG about this problem. New places can be travelled to if there is a player willing to lead you there via follow mode.

Gnome NPC wasn't there at the Post, and no DMs have been on, and no players have either been able to help or didn't respond.

I'm guessing that we're all home for the holidays.

Talk to the NPCs with Dark green-colored names. They unlock areas.

I know that, but no NPCs were available to unlock the Sharrahan Hills or the Sunderer's Gate. They might have been killed by the faction error that occasionally causes some NPCs to kill others.

I like the structure of the initial "quests" being used to help guide new players to appropriate areas, but not having another way to simply access obvious areas is kinda frustrating.

I'll give it another shot tonight, but the last half dozen times I've been on, my PC has simply wandered between Port Avanthyr and Sundren City.

The yellow or green NPCs unlock areas, the autofollow option is there for other players to guide you. DMs can also unlock areas.

NPCs killing each other shouldn't be an issue 1) this is extremely rare 2) the server resets at 1 a.m. so everything is fine then

The area unlock is a safety net and while it may not sit well with everyone it has served its purpose thus far.

If you don't believe me do a search on unlocking areas, I can guarantee you that you are an extreme minority having problems. In fact this is the first time I can even recall someone having such issue.

Saulus, you're right, it's an unusual issue (and I did the search before opening this thread). I think the problem is that my PC can't get to Sharrahan Hills, which is where most folks head when starting out. Also, the existing player base either has access to the areas they use already, or easily find others they know to help unlock areas.

The NPC that grants access to this area just hasn't been available to my current PC.

If my PC is led to an area with auto-follow, will the area become unlocked, or will he need a guide each time?

Once you visit an area, it's unlocked.

Thanks--I suppose I can give it one more try tomorrow. Maybe the right NPC for the Hills will be there.

I hate to "cold call" players with a tell for a technical issue like this, and I won't interrupt an rp session for this sort of thing either. It's a mixture of respect and that thing where guys don't like asking for directions.

I wonder, though, might there be other players who've run into a similar problem, but aren't avid message board writers like myself.
