It's something we have to change ingame, it's being worked on.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.
Fixed the ships today so they should be there after the next update
There is a similar problem with the rope bridges in the Cartel mountains (they're missing and you are walking on air like that Scene in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade)

I don't know on what server you are playing. But right now i am standing on a solid bridge . They were missing for some time. But that should be fixed by now.
Now that I think about it, if I had to choose a specialty priest as the next addition to the game, it would be the Demarch (Demarchess if female). The thought of clerics that provide sacred abilities to their fellow thieves and occasionally participate in thievery themselves while making sure the codes of Mask were upheld sounds like a blast. Whether you were a novice supporting thieves or a high-ranking member of the clergy giving orders to them, this class would be interesting to write for and I would definitely make one if they were in the game.
You think Marrs is scary now? Let me put Divine Agility and Freedom of Movement on him then tell me what you think. Of course I am not sure if Marrs is more of a thief or a brigand lol.

I made another PC this evening to try out (a druid). After logging on and getting through the ship scene, I appeared at the docks on a now-visible ship.
Yay!
Except, after leveling through level 2, the game sorta freezes. I say sorta, because I can move my PC via WASD (just as a test), though clicking doesn't work. Also, I can't initiate conversations, equip items, etc.
Yes, I am informed by various halfling sources that using the character sheet attributes to game freezing, therefore leveling will most likely look like; Character sheet, level, log out, log back in!
My sources may be wrong (being halfling sources puts them at dubious viability)

If I had my way, clerics would have spell failure and a d6 hit die. And Favored Souls wouldn't exist.

This elf has noticed the same freezing... its really more of a heavy lag as if you wait long enough you'll unstick. Either way, its a bit scary.
I encountered something similar when shapeshifting and casting spells while shifted - even without going through a transition. Relog fixed it.
Though it could have had to do with the character sheet - I can't swear to not having had it open.
Annaleen Wiltenholm-There's always something to smile about. Chani Kalera- Intimidation is the new diplomacy. *looms* Eleanor "Bloody Elle" Lark - Why is the rum always gone? Yolanda Brown - If life gives you lemons, make lemonade. But unless life also gives you water and sugar, your lemonade is going to suck. Astrid Hammerhand - Och!
