  • Back, but not ingame....

Heya, I played back in the first weeks, thought I'd stop by in a few months when things were fleshed out a bit.

Looks great, but I'm getting flak for things I can't find documented here at all....

Made a half-orc. Harrassed on sight for 'papers'. I deleted the char. I can find no documentation for this.

Made a warlock. System message saying this is an illegal class. Deleted the char.

Is there some place where all the stuff we can't make is written down? Making one char takes me a while, I don't want to do it 10 times till I randomly get something legit. I've read all the documentation I can find, wiki, you name it. Heck, search 'orc papers', there's nothing. Is there something besides these forums I should be reading? Really getting frustrated here...

Warlocks are a locked class - see here.

As for races, the only locked ones are ECL races (Genasi, Tieflings, Aasimar, etc.) These require you to win "Role Player of the Month" to be eligible to apply for them, and ultimately require DM approval.

Half-orcs are not locked, you can make them without DM approval. However, in-game events have caused the Sundarian government to institute several laws, one of which is the Anderson Act. This law requires all half-breeds (tieflings, half-orcs, etc.) to register with the government and receive papers of identification. These papers are obtained through RP.

There is a similar law - the Vellik Act - which requires all worshippers of Bane, Shar, and Talona to register with the government.

Of course, whether or not you follow these laws is up to your character in-game. You don't necessarily have to obtain papers, nor do you have to reveal your deity, however, if people can see you're a half-orc, it'll obviously be much easier for him to cooperate. Similarly, it's very easy to lie about your deity - the Vellik Act is much harder to prove and enforce.

If you're not sure why you're being asked for something, a good idea is always to send a tell to that other player/DM. They can probably clarify these right away for you, and you won't end up being so frustrated.

I was the guy asking for your papers. You didn't have to delete your half-orc. He just needs to be registered, which is more an RP thing than anything else.

You just disappeared before we could talk about it. Sorry for scaring you,

MUCH appreciated! That helps a great deal, thank you both.

I think I'll try this Orc out again....

You know, having all this info in one place might be good. Once I'm around for a while I'd gladly help compile a 'noob sheet' of very pertinent info that folks can read first thing...

        Anyhoo, onwards and stuff!

The half orc thing is an ongoing dm plot spreading racial tension against half breeds. Its not a server rule, its a event. *winks*

There is -- it's called the wiki.

As for anything else not covered in the wiki, the forum is a good place to search.

Yeah. Sorry. I was also the other guy that stopped you for your papers. (It was an RP session) I was trying to explain it to you but you logged off. But you have a good point on the laws and such. I just put the laws on the wiki (the link is on the top menu bar of this webpage.) It also has much of the "noob" sheet you were talking about. Hope it helps!

Let me know what else should go on there. It's still a work in progress so your input would be appreciated.

Sundren has a lot of things that won't make sense until you've been around a while. Specifically various laws, such as the 'no spells in the Exigo Post' law. There is one phrase that you'll use a lot: "I don't understand." Or as Rena would say: "I dun get it."

                  Welcome back.

Keep in mind, if you don't like being harrassed, then playing a half-orc probably isn't for you. It's all IC though, just remember that.

Yes, that was the misunderstanding, that it was IC.

In which case I can handle all thrown my way.

Oh, and yes, the new laws section in the Wiki looks like it will be handy.

Glad it helped. Whenever a DM posts a new law or related up, I'll post it up. Let me know what else will help.
