  • Good Morning Sundren

Hello, I am a noobe here in Sundren and looking for some basic advice. Like, is sundren more of a magic PW, Melee PW or mixed?
Is the xp consisten with NWN2 or is it scaled to make higher levels very difficult?

For someone who loves to RP, but knows that often they are on the computer very early in the morning or late at night...what type of starting character would you recommend?

Any ideas/hints as to how to start?
Jandar Snow - Cleric of Justice (with a little weakness for alcohol/women/song/etc)
Llorimar Snow - A young Druid, forced to find himself before joining the Circle

Sundren is right now "quite low magic". Finding a +3 enchanted armor, sword or whatever takes aloooot of luck as far as I know. Highest you will find in stores is +1 right now. Though that might change when the city Sundren is added, I doubt it but I wouldn't know

The critters you run into are not specifically designed only for melee or magic, some monsters are better resistant to melee, some to magic. Goblins are kind of tough in melee for instance, but then again they lack any magic resistance. I believe it's the builders idea to do this to most monsters, but right now there are not much 'hunting' areas yet

The experience is eh.. good. It depends on how actively you hunt though, if you hunt alot the exp per monster goes down ( to a bottom line of 20% the original value ), if you roleplay more the exp per monster goes up. ( up to 200 % ).
Higher levels will of course receive less experience for a critter then a lower level.

Type of a character ? Eh, I don't know. Though the easiest would be a fighter or a cleric I quess to start with. That's how I usually do it, until I know the world a bit better and know what main character to make.
Fret and fear, for Europe is near.

Sundren is mostly made for roleplay as the experience system shows. Grinders will soon find themselves in a rut they'll need time to get out of, roleplayers will find their occasional attempts to grind yield massive amounts of XP. It is low magic, though.

        More Notes

The reason that I selected Sundren to try was that it appeared to allow both opportunities. I prefer to roll play and really enjoy hunting in a group. The PW I have been playing on has a group that meets about everynight and then on the weekends....it typically does a DM led hunt and that is a kick...however, you pretty much max at level 5. The largest and most difficult monsters give an xp of 8...no matter if you are in a group or alone.....plus the booty is really low...just a few pieces of gold or maybe a low level armor or weapon item. That and the fact that nothing you have sells for over 50g, but everything costs over a 1,000.....takes a lot of the fun out.

How is the xp scaled? Is there something I can read on it?

Any character restrictions? Like the idea of a fighter/cleric or Fighter to take a look around...also been thinking of a druid or ranger...both fun to play and rp.
