  • Hi.

The forums kept urging me to post something here, so I'm complying now. And I have a question relating to the downloader.

After finally picking up NWN2 and the expansion about one and a half years late, I decided it was time to try a persistent world again. You're on the top of the google results for "neverwinter nights 2 persistent world", so here I am. I've been roleplaying on and off for the past ten years - D&D and WoD in particular - so I feel pretty comfortable with the mechanics. I gave the singleplayer campaign a go as well, just to get a feel for the game-specific stuff and see how it looks. In all its tightly scripted splendor, the campaign in NWN2 at least seems less boring than the one in NWN. Singleplayer aside, I hope Sundren will be able to provide me with my required RP fix in the time to come.

Also this downloader doesn't seem to be in a hurry. In fact, with no progress indicator of any sort visible I'm starting to wonder if it's supposed to look like, well, how it looks in the attached screenshot. It's cleared to pass through the firewall; I'm pretty sure the path is correct - it's supposed to point to nwn2main.exe, or? And because I can't be arsed dealing with the Vista paranoia I tend to install my games on the non-system disk (as opposed to C:/Program Files/), could that cause any complications?

Aha, the attachment magically placed itself right below the post. No need for this link then.

Hello and welcome to the forums (and later the server, hopefully). Personally I took a long time off NWN2 because in the first year or so there just weren't any interesting RP PW servers to play on, but Sundren definitely does the trick for me and I'm pretty sure you'll like it as well once you start 'mingling'.

I had that exact same problem at first. You should try (re-)installing the .NET 3.5 framework as stated on the downloads page (link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en), then restart your computer (possibly with latest vista updates) and try again. Hope you get it working soon!

It seems to hate it everytime I try doing something else while it is downloading. Try just running the downloader and doing something else and see if it finishes.

For some reason I was very convinced I already had the .net framework business installed and settled, but I guess I didn't. It's working now, even though the green line is crawling very slowly upwards, and the client seems rather prone to not responding (normally I might blame the computer, but this one is hardly antique at this point). I'll just go do something constructive while it downloads and hope it turns out allright. Thanks for the pointers, guys.

Welcome to sundren. For me the green bar goes in stages..It starts really slow then zooms to close to the end, then is slow again. Heh

Remember the current updater is just an alpha build, we will be releasing a newer one soon.

Yeah, I keep forgetting the server is still relatively new. Anyways, welcome to the server and I hope to run across you in-game.

Well, isn't that a great thing to hear. So good it can't be new!
