  • New and need some help/info.

    Hello,

Im new here, not even on the server yet. Though I am looking forward to trying it out. Quick question, my PC and internet connection are top of the line, so Im assuming its some sort of time out error or software conflict, but I cannot complete the download process with the updater. Is there another way to get the files?

Im US EST -5GMT. Dont know if that has anything to do with it.

Anyway, gonna keep trying to download the files and poke around forums.

    Thanks.

There isn't any other way to get the files. Try turning off any firewalls, anti-virus programs, etc, then running the updater again.

There's some generic troubleshooting suggestions in the FAQ for the updater if you are having problems.

Same here. I keep failing at the install just after the downloading finishes. At what point in the process are you having issues? Let me know if you figure this thing out. Good luck.

If it fails on the install you're out of HD space, other than that the only other possible thing is antivirus or some other application you're running is blocking the updater.

            15 gigs free on HD
            Windows firewall off
            Norton antivirus disabled
            Still will not work

I had to reinstall NWN2 + MotB, then I DL'd the patch for MotB, turned off my net connection and did the updater without net connection.

              It patched.

Then I got back online and patched Sundren Client, worked like a charm.

There was an issue with NWN2 patch and MotB patch not being compatible or something.

The only thing it does during install is copy files for the most part and create folders if they're missing. That's why we say check all these things. Make sure your my documents folder is right.

Thanks for the info. I have my hard drive partitioned so I installed NWN2 and MOTB into my D: drive in a folder I named NWN2. I had the updater set to that folder. Is that what is messing up the install? If so, what would I need to do/add in the D: drive?

That's why it's messing up. You shouldn't be changing the MyDocs directory, the install directory should be pointing to your NWN2 folder on your D: drive, and the NWN2 MyDocs dir should point to wherever your Mydocuments/NWN2 folder is located.

I am truly lost. If you want to give up on me I will totally understand. Are the settings I changed on the updater incorrect? Or did I mess up a step when I installed the game?

Yes, the settings you changed are incorrect. NWN2 installs into two separate locations. It installs a program files location (which is likely what you installed to your D drive), and it installs a My Documents location. The updater automatically goes to the My Documents location. You shouldn't change the updater to point to the other location, let the updater install to the default location.

Thanks to all for the help. My only remaining issue is that I can no longer find out what the default location is. I tried to uninstall and remove the updater program then reinstall and it keeps reverting back to the changes I made.

Alternatively, simply click the [...] button, and scroll until you get to My Documents -> Neverwinter Nights 2, and select the Neverwinter Nights 2 folder and hit okay.

                              Success!!!!!!!!
Many thanks to all who came to my aid. It only worked when I actually typed the default setting back in. Using the browse function didn't work because, somehow, NWN 2 installed an additional Neverwinter folder in my C: drive in addtion to the one under my documents. Never the less, I just tested and I got in with no problem. If the assistance I received is any indication how helpful people are on this server than I am sure to have a great experience playing in SUNDREN!! I will see you all on the other side.
