  • Hello my fellow man.

So, I'm new here and I am downloading the update now.
    Hello.

The silly title is jest getting into the characther I am planning.
Human swordsman, maybe a genasi (if I am approved to be one. then I'll be wind genasi)
As all duelists he will have his own silly talking style.

    His battlecry?
    "For honor and ale!"

    Stupid. I know.
    But thats how duelists are.
I mean, low Wis and low Cha. how smart can you be? even with high Int,you are as dumb as a rock.

Only thing I wish I could avoid here is that "level to age" limit.
Unless NW2 don't have age penalties?
Because if it has, It sucks to be non-caster.

And on that note, I might try out a wild elf sorcerer.
Always had a thing for blazing stuff.

Cha is personality n talking skills, and Wisdom is memory and insight. ^^, you can still be pretty smart.

    Anyways, welcome to sundren!

      You know what I mean.

      Sounds like an idiot.

      Due to low Cha.
Low Wis is not helping there. ("DIE SCUM! wait, why are we fighting?)

wouldn't low Int be the reason?

Int is learning ability, Wis is memory.

              (rolls eyes)
So someone with a high Int (wizards) and a low Wis (memory apparently) could never memorize spells cause they'd keep forgetting them?

back on topic: welcome to sundren...where int and wis is a matter of perspective.

Acutally, yes ipissimus. ^^, a wizard with low wis would most likely cast the wrong spell... I don't know, its weird. Wisdom is memory, IMO. Otherwise wtf is Wisdom anyways? >_>.

actually, wizards forget every spell they cast.
                  so yea, bad memory.

It's a matter of perspective, imo (still).

It was very common to hear the DM say "make an intelligence check" to remember something a player may have forgotten.

Smart people don't always make the best decisions, wise people don't always know how to build a bridge but probably knows when it's best to cross it during bad weather.

If you compare the skills attached to the ability scores, Wisdom seems to me more natural instinct, perception, intuition, etc. Survival is a good example. Also wisdom is tied to your will saves.

Intelligence relates to the ability to learn and understand, problem solving, languages, disable device is a good example as is all the craft skills.

Which is why animals and even bugs have little to know int scores but generally an avg or above average wisdom score. How did the salmon remember to swim back to their spawning grounds...they didn't remember, it was instinct.

Int, seems to lean more towards memory and mental capacity...have a low enough Int score and you can't even speak, read or write, and your capacity to learn part of which is remembering what you have been taught is tied to your intelligence. Which is why the higher your int score the more skill points you gain each level.

...ummm, the kid with the higher intelligence score is more likely to remember how to spell all those words and win a spelling bee.

                    game on.

Intelligence is memory and actual knowledge - recollection of facts, numbers, concrete evidence, etc. Wisdom is perception and insight - the ability to be observant, whether in the surroundings, or in a philisohpical sense. Examples of each: Intelligent people are often canny at recalling useful (or trivial) knowledge about just about anything (as all knowledges are based on intelligence), and further know more than the average joe with a lower intelligence (ie: more skill points). 'Wise' people are more insightful, capable of deeper observation of situations - whether pointing out that the goblin's tracks are fairly fresh, that the intimidating dragon is in fact an illusion, that the cleric's cryptic response actually means to grant clemency to a specific person who may in turn aid them, or to intuitly know they are being lied to.

However, both stats are useless if the player of said character is not up to par with the stats.
                      Active
Reinamar Stormseeker - The bladestorm that must turn back the wind. Arkerym of The People, practitioner of the forgotten art, pariah.

Tyler Penleigh - Obligatory author insert, Red Blade Defender, sarcastic jerk, caring brother, loving fiancé, war criminal.

                      Retired/Dead
Eirimil Gaelazair (Dead)- Bitter. Caustic. Abrasive. Egocentric. Probably right. Found dead in the burned-out Viridale forest a few weeks after the survivors were able to sweep the area after the Bloodmaim offensive. Aside from his usual attire, an intricate music box was the only thing in his possession.

I short explaination in my mind

                          Int = Finding solutions
                          Wis = Understanding consequences

So an high Int, low Wis, may be like the forgetfull professor or mad scientist.
"There was an old lady who swallowed a fly.
I don't know why she swallowed that fly?
                          Perhaps she'll die."
So the High Int, Low Wis guy says "Well swallow a spider, Duh"

So an high Wis, low Int, may be like an old worldly janitor that others come to for advice.
