  • Just joined, but booted...

Hi! I just joined and downloaded all the necessary files. I have tried twice to create a character, and have been booted both times. The second time a DM (I believe, and didn't get a screen capture in time), telled me saying "Stop trying to cheat." Then I was booted.

I have no idea how I'm cheating. I'm only trying to create a character, and since I had to download all the files, and don't see it in my history, I'm pretty sure I've never played here.

Could someone, perhaps the person that has booted and deleted my character, let me know what's going on? I was trying to make a Dwarf Fighter, if that helps.

    Thank you!

Delete everything in your override folder except for armorrulesets.2da ... You have something installed that is very bad and is making your character have things you shouldn't, which is considered cheating.

Ok. I talked to a few people on chat earlier while the server was rebooting, and they walked me thru what I should and shouldn't have, file wise. If they read this, they will know me as "dinnerandashow." Then I saw your post. I deleted everything in my override folder as you said, and only had your armorrulesets.2da file in there.

I just remade my character, was logged in for about 20 seconds and once again got booted. No message, nothing.

Could someone please tell me WHY I'm being booted, when I'm following all the rules?! It's a dog gone unpleasant way to be welcomed to your Module. Again, I have no name, as no one paged me, just booted me. If I'm doing something wrong, isn't it only fair that I be told WHAT the heck I'm doing wrong to keep getting booted?

      Thank you.

Well it is your doing for getting booted, whether you are aware of it or not. The server will only boot you under certain conditions, all of which involve things that are a form of cheating, or illegal modification from some other NWN2 mod you've installed.

If you still have this after emptying your override, then the only thing I can suggest to you is a reinstall NWN2, as there is something modifying how your character is created.

Sound, did you play on Talernon? If so, delete the Talernon files from your folder. I can confirm they cause you to get booted.

MY DOING FOR GETTING BOOTED? Are you freaking crazy? I have done nothing wrong!

Your suggestion, so I can TRY your world, is to reinstall NWN2? No offense, but NO ONE's world is worth that. I have had NO problems playing on at least 10 other PW's recently, or since I bought the game when it first came out.

Reinstalling is NOT a valid suggestion to this problem. Why can't your ppl TELL me what is the issue they are booting me, instead of just booting me? I mean, one of the ppl had time to tell me I was cheating, when I wasn't. How they hell would I know I'm cheating?

Why can't anyone tell me the exact problem, and just pony up to the fact they were they one that booted me and telled me "Stop trying to cheat?" I looked forward to playing here, but now it looks like I likely won't be.

And that's too bad, as all I have seen is good, and the ppl seem nice.

Because Sundren has autoboot scripts that boot your character if they are not valid. Its not some DM booting you. Tons of people connect all the time with no problems. A few like you come on and say they get booted..and its ALWAYS found out to be on their end. Most of these get resolved fairly quickly, though the others were far more polite and didnt scream at the owner of the Mod.

Um..I reinstalled to play here..and it was worth it.

Just to echo, from what I have seen so far, everytime anyone who has asked why they are being booted, its turned out to be at their end.

Yup, I was one of those that talked with you yesterday evening, and that's really as Saulus says, there's no other way around being auto-booted by the server scripts than having something you shouldn't somewhere in your NWN2 files. It's very possible that you got such a file when you played on other servers and downloaded their own custom stuff; the suggestion to reinstall just ensures that instead of wasting hours looking for this file you just run the installer and download for a hour or two while you go make yerself a sammich.

And I believe you can trust any of us to tell ya this server is well worth it.

Drop the attitude or I'll make sure you won't play here.

You're getting auto booted because of crap you've installed on your system. I didn't put it there, and no one on my staff sure as hell put it there. And I can't tell you what's on your computer because I'm not the one using it. Seeing as you have no clue what you've installed the only alternative I can give you is to reinstall the game. If you don't want to do that, then I can't do anything else to help you.

If that isn't good enough for you, well that's just too bad.

Dinnerandashow I saw your joins. Your characters are invalid, I assure you. What happens is if you have data in your override folder, that we did not put there, or elsewhere in your NWN2, when you create a character, even on another server, you can wind up with characters using data that got placed in your folders.

Our scripts check for that because we had alot of people coming from other servers with custom races and classes, using them in their creation and making people have issues on Sundren.

This is an automatic script, a DM was NOT booting you. In fact, it sends us a message on DM chat before you get booted "XXXX player has joined with an INVALID character."

Every DM sees it and I saw your name every time you joined. Trust me on this, your client data files have been modified. Purge your overrides folder of all files except "armorrulesstat.2da" and you will very likely be able to get in if you CREATE a new character (Not use an existing one you created).
