Greetings.

I am not sure if I should be doing this in or out of charactor, so will start with OOC, at least until (if*) I can get Elsewhere into the game

I played Everquest 1 for about 5 years, along with various RPGs both past and present. I have finnished the NWN1+2 Campaigns and am looking to dip my toes in the water again for online play.

I generally play Paladins and Rangers, usually with a splash of Rogue for diversity purposes, and suffer from TRS (terminal re-roll syndrome) so will probably be rolling 1 Ranger bases and 1 Paladin based charactor with a back-story to match.

Elsewhere himself got his name from, despite his best intentions, always ending up lost. So where people would say, where is he? the answer would always be "Elsewhere".

On a semi serious note though, after downloading the patcher and running it, I get about 1/4 through and it stops, seemingly at the same point each time. Will try to attach a picture.

Well, I have 300 Gigs spare and ready to use, so its not that.

Trying again as I type this, so fingers crossed that all goes well this time and I can be playing later on this evening.

Just out of curiosity, what time zone is the server and most of of the players in?

Edit to add: well, it just fell over again, twice,. But what gets me is that instead of resuming from where I left of, each time it starts all over again. /sigh

I would really like to play here, as it sounds like what i am looking for, but it seems like the technical gremlins are telling me its not on the cards.

Hurrah!

After a dozen failed efforts to get the files needed from the updater, I ran it at 6-30 this morning and it all worked. It looks like I will be able to play on the server after all. Hurrah!

Anyway, as I mentioned in my first post, I have played a fair amount of RPGs before (including some DDO), but not any PnP and very limited Multiplayer. As a result, my DnD knowledge is quite limited, especially on the finer points such as deitys and such. However, I am reading alot of forum boards and trying to fill the gaps as much as I can. So please bear with me if I am a little vague on some of the issues I am not familiar with.

As for role-playing, 99% of my Everquest days were spent "OOC" due to the family-friendly guild I was part of. So, while trying my best, please bear with me while I get upto speed. As a result, I may have some questions which I will post to try and help me blend in better with the community.
