Just stepped in from another server, gonna take a look around, hope I find it to my liking

I will be looking to play a Human Wizard, preferably with a turban, heh, though I understand if that is limited somewhat.

Got any tips or advice?

Go with a Banite. I have plans for Banite wizards.

Unless you don't want to. Completely your choice, but my plans, when I don't drop them for other, shinier plans, are awesome.

Whoops, went ahead and created a Tiefling Wizard (Wanted to try a change), but apparently that needs DM approval.

There are turbans for sale in the Exigo tradepost! Don't know about elsewhere though.

As for Wizard, woohoo! Its crazy hard to find spell scrolls usually, but with all the new players and returning old players it shouldn't be too hard now.

My advice is group up whenever possible. From Lvl 6+ soloing is very hard because you can't rest on demand.
