  • Possibly a New Player

    Hello,

Been poking around your forums since yesterday. I must say that what I am seeing of this server has intrigued me, as it is very different in structure, practice, and policy than the few other PWs I have seen.

To be honest I am not sure if the stylistic differences and I will get along, but I am more than willing to try. This will be a new experience for me, so I ask for a little patience while I adjust to a new play style in a setting I have not before encountered.

While I am still familiarizing myself with the custom content, I have read over all the forum/server rules and laws for the regions. One question did come up though, and searching for threads on the topic of my question only led me to topics were at least a year old.

While I am sure to have more questions in the future, my first one is this:
Am I correct in thinking that the level cap on this server is set at level 20?

Static content will allow you to get to 20. You are able to progress beyond that, but it mostly requires xp granted by a dm. There is currently a quest though that you can do to get xp past level 20, but it's just the one.

Thank you for that quick reply... Does this server use a level cap, or an XP cap (meaning that an ECL +1 race would cap at 19 instead of 20)?

EDIT: And with those DM XP rewards, what would the hard cap be?

ECL races can still reach level 20, it just takes them longer to get there.

The highest level player on the server is probably 25 I think, however with some of the new daily quests and epic content there will be ways for players to gain XP past 20 beyond DM XP.

Getting to level 30 will become more of a possibility, but it will still take a hefty time investment.

I think the hard cap is 30, but I wouldn't plan any builds around getting that far

            Also, welcome!

              There's an echo in here!

Yes, there is currently a daily, repeatable quest suitable for level 18+ PCs, and we will be implementing more of them in the future. Leveling into the epics is a certainty for anyone willing to invest the time.

                Thank you for the information!

That I may never get to 30 is not really a deterrence, as I have never had a character get that high in level, so I went ahead and rolled a Banite cleric. So far I have only met about three of you online (one of which was from the server I just left), but so far I am enjoying myself.

I do have another question though. The colours for the names of mobs, they remind me of my days on Evercrack where colour indicated threat level compared to the PC. Is that true here, and if so where can I find what those colours mean? So far I have been unable to locate that information.

Thank you for taking the thyme to answer my questions. I do appreciate it.

The colour system is (I think) based on the WoW system:

Grey = Lowest of the low. So low I made it up. These guys are so weak they die before spawning.
White = Mooks of the lowest order, expect to enstabinate many without any hassels.
Green = Advanced Mook. Will have some tricks and could present a bit more of a threat on their own.
Blue = Specialist Henchmen. These guys pack a punch and may threaten the unprepared soloist. Have special abilities.
Red = Bosses. These guys lurk at the end of dungeons ready to stab face. Take friends.
Purple = The bosses bosses. Bring lots of friends, a plan and a change of underwear.

^ Above is correct but we don't have grey, it's White and above.

I could have sworn I've seen grey named creatures!

fair enough though! White for basic mookdom it is!

Edit: Fixed the colour list in the previous post.

As an aside, can we have Light Blue names instead of Dark Blue please?

I have no idea what the names of most of those blue creatures are because my resolution/eyesight isn't that good!

Same goes for Blue Magic items, they are even less legible.

OK, I have been here about a week and I have a few things to say about my experience:

                            1) I have no idea what I am doing, but I am having a great thyme doing it!

                            2) Everyone I have met, be they players or DMs, has been very helpful and supportive.

                            3) While I know I have not RPed with the majority of the population yet I have met some wonderful characters and witnessed some dern fine RP with what seem excellent players.

                            4) The settings are gorgeous! My carpy computer cannot handle so many trees, but everything looks great when I crash

                            TL;DR
It has been lots of fun, and I look forward to more! Thank you to everyone who has been patient with my slew of questions... I do have more, I am just holding back to not overburden people.
