  • Hi y'all

Hi folks. New to Sundren, but not to NWN2. I've played on other servers in the past, including staff positions as system administrator and junior builder, so I am definitely no stranger to the game or to role-playing in general. (I'm not sure if it's considered bad form here to mention specific names, so I'll keep that bit to myself unless directly asked.)

I've got a penchant for playing Warlocks, having the both the mechanical and role-playing aspects down to a science. So I'll probably be creating a Warlock at some point, but I think I might try something different for a change of pace here. At least initially.

I left one server for a variety of personal reasons, and the second fizzled out and died. I've spent some time playing through the OC with a friend I've kept in touch with from the last server, which has sated my appetite for RP and NWN2 for a time, but as we are an ocean (and several time zones) apart, this has become increasingly difficult. And so, I find myself seeking new opportunities to rejoin the NWN2 community. Sundren, being one of the oldest and most established servers, strikes me as being an excellent possibility.

And so, I begin my download of the server files, pondering what my first character will be, and what new adventures await me and my impending creation.

    Catch ya'll on the flipside.

Hail and welcome! Check out the wiki -- Sundren has tons of custom content, classes, spells, etc. You'll need to really show off your RP before you can make a warlock

        Cya in game.

Edit: Doublepost. But I'll take this space to tell you all that killing Dain Tornbrook is now officially the mission of everyone on Sundren.

Thanks for the greets and well-wishes, all. Thus far, my experiences have been positive, so congratulations to staff and players alike on contributing to an excellent, welcoming environment. The characters I've met thus far have all been interesting in their own way, and the two DM's I've spoken with thus far were engaging and helpful.

One thing I would like to know, though, is some detail on the DMing style used here. I'm used to DM's developing a story and presenting it to the players, as in traditional PnP games, while being available for personal "missions" or things if the need arises. I've also worked with DM's who take the opposite stance; not promoting a story of any kind, and serving as a combination of referee and a stage hand, while the players write and direct the entire production. Is it one or the other here? Bit of both? Up to the individual DM?

EDIT: Before I forget, a major shout-out to the builders for creating an extremely detailed, beautiful game world. Every area I've been to has quite obviously been shown an extraordinary level of attention--even the things in non-walkable areas.

Tends to be a bit of both. Mostly the players making the rules and the staff approving them though ^^

Sundren has changed ALOT story/history wise since it launched so its always open for players to make their mark if they wish!
