  • Hello There

Just thought I should stop by and make a hello thread as I have just started playing here and having a great time. Can see a lot of work and thought has gone into the creation of the world and many of the PC encounter have been very enjoyable. With a real lived in feel to the world that you never know what might occur round the next corner. With so much detail in every area that you come across and a real feeling of vastness.

I do have one quick question today myself and another new arrival were travelling back to the Second Wind Inn and someone kept casting sleep spells at us then running off. Now the PvP rules state you have to set to hostile and have an in game reason which left a little confused as to whether we could set the person to hostile and go hunting them or what was going on. Being new here we thought it best to ure on the side of caution and pulled back to the inn and log to find the answer rather than get into an altercation within our first few days here.

Anyway hello to everyone out there and hope to see you in game.

If you have In Character reason to be violent with someone, set them hostile and go for it.

      Welcome to Sundren, Curian.

The person in question has a bit of fey blood and was poking fun at you out of whimsy. The character had 3 Deep Slumber spells on hand and wanted to see how your duo would react to them. There was no actual harm intended (which was why in the first place no hostile flags had been raised). Dealing with the situation In-Character and heading into the inn was probably a good idea, though the prankster had by then run out of magic anyhow.

Sundren's playerbase, in my experience, has a lot of good roleplayers so you probably don't have to worry about people griefing you for the sake of it. If there's ever something you're left wondering about, you can always bring up the playerlist, click on a character name, and then write them a tell with an OoC interrogation.

Actions taken in game are considered to be in character. If you're throwing spells at someone against their will, it's PvP and you need to flag them hostile.

On the topic of campfire shenanigans, people need to review the rules of the server regarding the use of stealth.

-Proper Use of Stealth: Players who have successfully entered stealth mode may not spend any significant portion of time stealthed without using cover or concealment from in-game objects. Stealthed players may stay in stealth mode when moving from the cover or concealment of one object to another within reason, but never in full view of another PC or NPC they don't wish to be seen by. Shadows (at least twice the size of the stealthing character), nooks in walls, large rocks, and crates are all examples of in-game objects that provide partial cover. Sundren does not allow crowds of people as an excuse for granting cover unless DM supervised, since it is too easy to exploit.
          • Example 1: Stealthed Player moves from hiding behind a barrel and skirts the edges of the room to gain cover behind a large peice of furniture. This is acceptable.

          • Example 2: Stealthed Player moves from the hiding behind a rock through the middle of Exigo campfire to hide behind a wagon. This is not acceptable.

            Welcome to Sundren Curian!
Feel free to give any of us a shout ingame if you feel you need any queries answered right there, right then!

Try to ignore all these griefing fey creatures; they will likely only put you in a tie-dye t-shirt and attach a daisy chain around your neck ~ worst case scenerio, they faun all over you for a day or two.
