Hello thar.
I used to RP a fair bit in NWN1. Due to the clusterfuck that was the NWN2 release, combined with a lack of decent servers, I stopped for awhile. I recently started playing PnP D&D and it inspired me to reinstall and check out what PWs were available now.
Anyway, the reason this server in particular piqued my interest:
-Seems like a semiactive playerbase. 9 players on when I checked at 9:30 AM, which seems pretty nice. Not as much as some other servers, though, but definitely enough.
-It's far more...I don't want to say 'hardcore' at the risk of sounding like a tool, but something like that...than some of the other servers I've found. It's not overly harsh, but my biggest pet peeve about the last NWN1 server I played on was that people would talk casually about the last time they were ripped apart and thusly killed by demons.
-Tying into that, I rather like the PVP rules. In my opinion, if you're so attached to your character that you take personal offense to something bad happening to him, you're doing it wrong.
I've always liked environments where actions have consequences. Example: the last MMO I played was EVE Online.
-Some of the mechanics that were added are really impressive; far and above what I saw in NWN1. What I had heard about the NWN2 toolset was that it's harder to learn than the NWN1 toolset, but far more powerful. Apparently that wasn't a lie
-Based on the forums it seems like a relatively well-run place with a good playerbase and good management.
-The leveling mechanics/rules seem to strike a great balance between letting people do stuff and enjoy the RPG elements of the game and limiting powerleveling and such
-Special mention: Combat is generally designed for groups from what I can tell. I approve very much.
Anyway, downloading server mods now. o/
