New to NWN2 - Old NWN RPer

Anyone from Empires of Eternity might recognize my name, I played there for a good four years. *waves at DireBadgerEntersRage*

I just bought a new computer a couple nights ago, and NWN2 last night. It plays wonderfully and I'm so excited I could squeak.. but I'll spare you. I have been craving an alternative to EoE and, after looking through the sites/forums of some of the most popular, have decided to try this server as my first, and hopefully last choice for NWN2 multiplayer.

My playtime is around 6:00PM till around 12:00PM (GMT -5) on weekdays; and a whole lot on weekends.

I've already read all the FAQ and rules I could find concerning Sundren, but one thing that has escaped me, even after doing several forum searches, are the rules concerning sleep. I assume it's once every in-game day (2 RL hours)? [rel. spell regen]

I had other questions as well, but I forget them as soon as I think up a new question. *horrible memory* The above was just my last..

Now to another topic, a bit more important. Me. My only 'real' experience with RP is from EoE. However, as anyone who has played it knows (at least in its earlier days) it was very heavy on RP; so I racked up a couple years worth on a single server. I may be a bit rusty, but it shouldn't take long until my character is flowing along with the rest of Sundren.

I should be able to spend a great deal of time on the forums as well, since I have a boring desk job *is at work*. So plenty of [more] time to research the game world. Expect me to available, near on 18 hours a day throughout the week. That is, of course, if I don't get bored - in which case I'll just start spamming everywhere with pictures of cute kittens, girls in bikini's, girls in bikini's holding cute kittens and vice-versa.

You may find the sleep rules aren't as restrictive as every 2RL hours.

In essence from levels 1-5 you can rest whenever. From 6+ it is every 10 RL minutes.

And fantastic sleeping rules. I don't think I would mind the 2hr thing on some servers, since, I assume, it won't be often that I absolutely -have- to sleep within such a short period of time - but I imagine that there will be occasions (particularly DM quests?) that may drag on long enough that I would have had to wait. 10 minutes should be no problem.

Unfortunately, last night when I got on the server for my first time I was hit with quite a bit of latency. It took my character ~3 seconds to start walking after I clicked and once I did she was jumping around a lot/was unable to change direction in mid-walk. I'm on a 16mbps connection with a Phenom II x4 910 and Radeon 4850, so I don't think it's my setup. Does anyone else experience this problem (or know a solution)? I really hope it's not just latency - I can't really fix that.

I'll run a trace on my connection to find out the specific problem and see if my ISP can resolve it - assuming latency is the cause. All the required ports are wide open.

Happens sometimes, its pretty laggy at the moment.

When I was on the other day it was silky, you have to take the rough with the smooth. It doesnt happen all that often anymore since Saulus added the new memory and started doing server restarts. the behaviour tab being removed cleared most of it!

yeah it has been really bad the last few days due to some really nice updates that the dev team is smoothing out. just stick it out a bit, and it will be worth it.

A server with updates and the occasional lag is still much better than a lag free server with no updates. Thanks Dev team!

Just hopped on at lunch today. The latency was much improved. Suppose I'll be seeing everyone around 6 then. xD

The lag was due to some hosting experiments or something... *brains pop* It's supposed to be done with now.

Regarding sleep, it is every 10 mins after level 5 but of course there was these little camp fire rest areas! So you can sleep all day long if you like!
