Hello, those of you proud to call themselves Sundren players.

Just to meet the first part of our forum topic title, a question. Is Sundren right for a kitten like me? Is it a good place where I could fit in? These things I do not know yet, but we shall find them out soon enough. Or else go off with a flick of a tail, otherwise.

Secondly, a greeting! And an introduction.

I am EvilNekoMarine, as you can well see. Also known on NwN1 as Kitty, Ranora, Dark.Angel.Rising, and a few other little names. I have played for almost 6 years now, a total of over 3000 hours total.

Servers I have been a part of include: Empires of Eternity, Stormnexus, Blackstone Keep, (briefly) Aerlith, The Realms Divided, Isles of Styss, Moth's Anphillia, Tides of Doom, and a few other places like Realms of Ruin Rebirth.
NwN2 servers: Not that many, strangely enough, I have only been non-lazy enough to play the campaigns and join Silversun, although I am choosing another server now for the way that one has turned out.

Now you may be asking yourself, what is the concern? I mean, honestly, what could someone care about, its a game, right? That is exactly it. In a game, you're supposed to have fun and whatnot. However, in NwN2, all I have found are cliques, groups of two or three players that talk to each other, unless in some DM run event. This, honestly, kills the game for me. I am curious if this happens here at all, if I should try to take the time to joni this wonderful-appearing server. If it is like the others I have seen, I would rather not try. One-or two line tops RP seems to be more of a killer than most things, because it leaves so much detail unsaid, so much to try and fill the gaps for.

But don't get me wrong! This server looks very good. The prospective is excellent, the involvement looks good, I have been exploring a lot of the forums and looking at random posts, to check for attitudes, and it seems very nice. I would just like to know if this may be the right place for me, before I set my heart on it, so to speak.

Hello to you! There, got that out of the way. I myself am new to this server and I must say I have enjoyed the interaction between players so far. I have yet to find anyone that has "snubbed" me for anyother reason than it was good Rp for their character to do so.

As far as the Cliques you mentioned (and I do know what you mean) I have yet to see them. Of course those that play together alot will form groups, most of the player I have run into will take time to make sure that anyone around can be involved in their Rp.
This I must say has been a wonderful experience for me and I hope that you will give the server a chance, as most of the players seem to genuinely enjoy interaction with others. *(Nothing worse than playing a multi-player game all by yourself)

Well. My playing at all is assumable under that the Updater works. Fro the past hour and a half it has refused to download more than 104 (1.08Gb) of the files.

By cliques, I mean the groups of players that will hang out with each other to such an extent that anyone not directly related with hteir characters ends up with a slight snubbing. (Short, bluntly ended statements, not talking with, or ignoring completely.)

If I see him, I will be sure to say Hi! I usually play Ranora, but since a Catling Demon wouldn't be that acceptable here, as a restricted race, I will probablytry to hop on as Isan, my human sorceress. She is an enchantress, a Charmer, as she likes to put it. ^.~ *Waves.*



EDIT on this. Apparently, the updater has yet -Another- problem with which I have no idea how to fix. I am getting an error message, about the.NET framework. See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Firstly, hello and welcome , hope you enjoy it here as much as i am.

Have you tried installing a newer version of .NET framework? just a guess, ive had similar problems

I installed the .NET that was prompted with the updater, I don't know if thats right or not, however.

--Got.NET newset version and tried ti, tis a no-go. Still get the same error message.

all your drivers and stuff updated? same with your OS? sometimes that can cause a little bit of trouble aswell, could also try here, dont know if it will solve this problem, but it solved a heap of mine that i had when running certain things,

I'm sorry to hear about your updater issues, I wish i had a more extensive knowlege to help you troubleshoot them. Vexxen has allready suggested everything I can think of.

As for the cliques, (keep in mind I haven't been on the server all that long now) I haven't noticed them as of yet. Usually if someone "snubs" my character it's either because they didn't see him or they were brand new to the server and not really familiar with it.*3 that I have seen so far*

I do hope you get everything sorted so that you can at least experience it for yourself.
After all only you can truly decide if Sundren is right for you. Personally I love it here

As long as you have .NET 3.5 installed and don't have any antivirus/firewall blocking the program it should work fine.

folks will talk to you here no matter level/class/race unless they rp being an jerk or some such. Cliques? There are folks who tend to rp together but they do interact with others. Even folks on the complete opposite side of alignments.

Dm's are pretty cool in events they use skill rolls, and welcome all in the events I have been in. ranging levels 5-10.(my charactor).

Now for the bad news.

Don't expect to level quickly, its just not going to happen.

Design your charactor for level 15 that is the cap. Eventually it might be 20, but leveling takes time, and can be rather dangerous.

Death sucks, so do your best not to have your charactor die.

read the Wiki, lots of good things there also helps you design charactors and know what feats are needed or what custom feats exist.


Last advice. Have fun or we beat you with week old flounder...from little mermaid, while they sing under the sea out of tune.

Wellllll. We tried a lot of things.

Uninstalled AVG, Norton, and basically all of my security stuff. Reinstalled the downloader. Reinstalled the .NET framework, Java, the 2008 C++ redistributive packager, all of my antivirus stuff is now gone, my firewall is off, generally open to any hacker worth two cents. And...it still gives me the same error. Updated Windows the whole way, upgraded the Runtimes, all drivers, and reset the router three times, among many, many computer restarts. So, we have gotten desperate and I am accepting 1.8 gigabytes of data over an MSN transfer rather than deal with all this crap for much longer. 9 hours have we been playing with programming! ~.~ Hope someone has an idea of what we missed, this is going to take hours and hours more.

umm do like I do and dl the whole thing at work using the updater then rar it. Fits on a cd then uncompress it and dump it into the my documents nwn2 folder.

Problem solved, uploaded the Sundren files to MegaUpload and was good.
