Does death attack qualify for arcane trickster?

I was hoping to make a Rogue 1/Assassin 1/Wizard 5/Arcane Trickster 8. It appears it really should apply but I searched around on the boards and they say that death attack does not qualify you for arcane trickster due to some bug.

Is that the case still with the most recent patches?

I just checked it out on a character creator, and no it doesn't stack. The req is 2d6 sneak attack, which is a specific feat, separate from death attack 1d6.

Just out of curiosity, why create a build like this? By level 8 you have a +5 ab, and only one attack per round. Also, taking arcane trickster sets you back a level in castings, not to mention the rogue and assassin levels.

Welll, technically death attack is an extension of the sneak attack really. Thanks for checkin that.

Arcane tricksters using a simple Rogue at first level, caster second level, repeat every other level til you qualify for Arcane Trickster, are much more powerful and versatile then most people could have ever dreamed.

Theres a guy fixing this in a hak file. Also has a boat load of PRC's that hes completed.

also DA would have an DC of like 15 in that build. You wouldn't hold much of anything

Wow... I had always kind of thought Arcane Trickster would be a lame class, but... I had typed more but I think I'll stop there.

Granted a character building himself to be an Arcane Trickster at say 3rouge/3mage is going to have a hard time killing monsters at that level. But it's the later levels when you get your first acrane trickster level that suddenly this PrC shines. I've seriously seen a level 3 rogue/ 5 mage/ 2 AT simply eat faces for breakfast. And the guy was a gnome, A GNOME!






psst. . .Enlarge person + Magic weapon + Invisibility + Bukko Buffs + 2 weapon fighting + Daggers + Sneak attacks from Invis = seriously dismantled monsters.
