I would take any feat over Power Critical, I mean if there was a feat that made you lose a skill point at level 13 I would rather take that then power critical.

I like this feat, whats wrong with having a higher chance of having your criticals land?

Its not a stupid feat on its own, but when compared to what else is available? You could take Improved Disarm, Improved Knockdown, Weapon Specialization, Weapon Focus, Power Attack, Improved Critical... they're all better.

I believe I just explained a scenario in which it is, in fact, superior to such a feat >.>

It's actually a well balanced feat, and can be useful for the right characters. Most notably weapon masters.

I'd rather have a bonus to hit at all, than a bonus to hit after I've already hit. Natural priority would be to land the first hit. Besides, if you had to choose between the two feets, you would have to take into account the fact that Weapon Focus +1 to hit would still be there in the event of confirming a critical. You would choose between a +1 and a +4, with the +4 only applying like, 5-10% of the time, whereas the +1 would apply as a constant. That constant, by the way, would also add to abilities like Knockdown and Disarm, which obviously require you to land a hit first, and are arguably more important than a critical. Power Critical would not aid in that, at all.

Furthermore, a Weapon Master doesn't have many feats to burn, considering the requirements for the class, and a Fighter-type shouldn't be having much trouble with confirming a critical anyways, in most cases. Sure, there are some instances, but how often would that happen? Enough to justify using up a valuable feat option when there are alternatives that can apply more consistantly? Additionally, Weapon Focus is a prerequisit for other things, and as far as I know, Power Critical isn't.

Go ahead and take the feat if you want to, but I wouldn't.

"you would have to take into account the fact that Weapon Focus +1 to hit would still be there in the event of confirming a critical" That part's correct, I'll edit my post to take that into account. The difference it makes would be (1/20)(1/20)(3) or 3/400.

Of course, if you kill it in one hit, or something along those lines, then a bonus to attack rolls is better as crits don't matter anyways.

As for the weapon master, let's give him a scythe.
                      (4/20)(4/20)(4)(Damage) or
                      (0.16)(Damage)
That's a 16% boost in expected damage, good sized boost for a feat.

It's not a bad feat if you have a weapon with a good crit and you're not squeezed for feats. After factoring the weapon focus bonus to crits, I noticed that, with improved crit, it makes weapon focus beat out power critical by .005 for what it's worth too. Still not a bad feat for the right character though.

I would say any character that takes this feat is crazy. However if you put that feat as a bonus feat on a Weapon like a scythe, then it has it's place and adds some nice flavor to a weapon.

Note to self: Make character with Power Critical feat to annoy Gairun. Take multiple times if possible.

It can be taken at every feat-giving level, if you want. It will apply to a different weapon everytime. Go nuts.
