Hmmm..sitting here waiting to hear from Atari

Just thought I would ask if anyone else has had this sort of problem with the NWN2 Auto updater....

Evidently AVG considers NWN2 a virus now, so I had it set to automatically heal infections during the daily test. It did, it deleted my nwn2main.exe file. So I had to reinstall NWN2, MOTB, and Sundren updater.

Problem is now the NWN2 Updater will not patch me to 1152, it gives me an error message in the update window:

Patching File NWN2GDF.dll
Patching File NWN2main.exe
Verify of New File Failed
"Generic contact support website message"
The patch has been aborted.

Sorry if this sort of post doesn't belong here. I just want to get back to Sundren as Im glad to have found a good NWN2 server.

Uinstall AVG, that antivirus has false positives all the time, complete piece of crap.

I had the same problem, just go into virus vault, restore the file, then disable resident shield then update. Pain in the ass but worked for me.

I agree with Saulus. Switch to NOD32 or kaspersky I'd say for AV stuff.

I've been using AVG for years and never had a false positive.

Had the same problem yesterday and am just abouts to try fixing it now by replacing the file after a re-install. Sounds like you had the exact problem I did.

I'd also say, never ask Atari for any help, you will hardly ever hear from them again.

I have just done a re-install and then went into my virus vault and when I click the 'Restore' it asked me if I wanted to replace thew one already in the folder. I clicked 'yes' but now when I run the nwn2 updater it says the game version is english and that there is no new patches available?

Does this mean I now have the right version back or what?

Sounds like this AVG thing is the virus, you could always get rid of it and then reinstall NWN.

Okies, I figured it out. Turning off AVG or restoring the file was not working for me. Nor was reinstalling program with AVG turned off.

I unistalled AVG, then reinstalled NWN2 & MOTB, then I ran the updater. *waves dead magic lizard at pc* Abbracadabbra! It worked.

So, good to go now, hope this helps anyone with the same problem.

Ditch the AVG its the problem, I contacted AVG and it appears that and *puts on village idiot cap*, AVG has a problem with the way NWN2 remotely accesses files on the user PC or some such? Thats the really really, really, dumbed down gully dwarf version. AVG bad bad bad, NWN2 good good good.
