  • PrC Review: Darkwood Stalker

Description: Elves and orcs are ancient foes, their enmity dating back to times before humans walked the land. Some elves train as elite hunters of the hated orcs. These hunters, called darkwood stalkers among the elves, pursue their age-old enemies with grim determination. Darkwood stalkers usually come from the ranks of elf (or half-elf) rangers and rogues, although the rare elf barbarian can follow this path as well. Fighters and paladins make poor darkwood stalkers without gaining at least one level in ranger or rogue. Spell casters rarely take up the mantle of the darkwood stalker although druids willing to forgoe spellcasting can fit well into the order

    MY VIEW

Its an elf who hates orcs. That however can be portrayed very in a very rich RP way.

Mechanically it does some very nice things for your charachter, especially if you want that character to be good against orcs.

My first sundren character Peligir is a darkwood stalker. Unfortunately the bonus to favoured enemies doesnt apply since its ranger levels and not the number of feats that determines the bonus. If it did it would be a highly viable class!

As it stands its only good for mossdale (and after 4 years he is still my lowest level character at level 10).
    Concept is nice though.

*edit* Darkvision actually works as far as I can tell too. bonus!
