  • Rare Maps of Toril

    (( Posted with the DM's permission ))

I wasn't able to post in the public information forums, but since there has been so much confusion about where samurai come from, I decided to make a few maps of FR's less known parts.

All the maks have been collected from Forgotten Realms Atlas program which basically had the whole world of Toril mapped as far as it has been planned and it includes areas that have little to no information available, especially of the geographical stuff (such as The Isles of Wa, the "Japan" of FR).

Had to patch the Isle of Wa up one from smaller images but finally I got it working

    The three main continents

This map includes the most important areas of Toril: Faerūn, Kara-Tur (Asia) and Zakhara (Middle East).
I name-tagged some of the areas to give better perspective of the areas, Faerūn more or less ending around Mulhorandi/Raurin and Kara-Tur starting from that area with the huge empire of Shou Lung (China), which extends all the way to the eastern coast of the continent.
To the south of Shou Lung there is a massive mountaneous area called Tabot (Tibet), which separates Zakhara from Kara-Tur. There are two kingdoms at the southern Kara-Tur: Petan and Malatra and two island kingdoms in the Yellow Sea: The Isles of Wa and Kozakura (Japan).

    Islands of Wa

Closer inspection of the Islands of Wa, the areas of interest and all the towns included. Koryo is actually part of the continent and thus not an island, but has significance for the area itself.

So that's about it, these maps have been made according to the official material of FR so if you plan to make samurais, wandering Kung-Fu masters or whatever eastern heroes, feel free to use this material.

If you need more specific information of Zakhara or other bordering lands, I would be glad to offer you more specific maps.

    Enjoy!
