  • State of the Legion

In a rare appearance today Supreme General Imperatu Verinus addressed the city of Sundren from the Citadel.

"Citizens of Sundren. We have been through many trying times... Luskan seeks to damage our trade relationship with Neverwinter... The vicious Bloodmaim orcs seem to attack in increasing numbers... and undead knock at our very doorstep.

But we are strong... tenacious... resilient. We shall endure. Having said those words I wish to announce the new Myrios of the 4th Legion, Isaac LaCroix.

Isaac has been a steadfast officer in the 4th Legion for many years and it gives me great honor to bestow this title upon one of Sundren's prominent families."

The crowd gathered watches as the newly promoted Myrios Isaac takes the podium.

"Thank-you to the Imperatu for this great honor. As first order of business for the station of Myrios of the 4th, I would like to announce the position of Ioviani Maximus -- leader of the 4th's light and heavy foot-infantry. I look forward to speaking to the many officers who are worthy candidates of this station."

As Isaac steps down the Imperatu retakes the podium once more for his closing statement.

"In light of these announcements I would also like to say that after much deliberation with the Arbiters, Martial law is now in effect.

The 4th Legion will be given the duty of enforcing order inside the valley interior. All citizens are expected to comply with the requests of any Legion officer in this matter."

With little news or word from the elusive council of Arbiters, the populace looks to the wisdom and leadership of Imperatu Verinus. Some claim martial law is just another way to give the Legion more power over citizens -- while others argue that finally the Legion's hands will no longer be tied behind its back to do what needs to be done.

Rumors spread that the Triumvirate silently opposed this measure, worrying about the government overstepping its bounds... while the Church of Helm seemed quite supportive in the move.

Meanwhile the Legions actively stationed at Arbiter's Stand, Viridale Forest, Gate of the Sunderer, Port Avanthyr and Sundren City seem to be on high alert... organizing into larger battle formations not normally seen.

Those with keen minds know the Imperatu is preparing for something -- but what?
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.
