Disguised as but a simple traveler looking for the blessings of the Vigilant One, a simple envelope is left behind upon one of the pews after a recent mass.
Dear soldiers of the Vigilant One,
Given the inability to meet you all face to face in regards to this matter, I shall allow myself only the briefest of introductions. My name is Rook. To put it bluntly, we possess similar goals. We both care about this land and the protection of the people within it. There is quite the plethora of differences as well however, mainly in regards to the drive toward action and what we deem necessary to given aid.
I shall be honest with you. My mistress is quite displeased with your organization. She sees those that speak on behalf of Helm as being the uncaring sort, turning their backs to people requiring simple comforts simply because they feel satisfied in obtaining their duty through protection of their lives alone. She feels you do not understand what it means to know the true needs of the people. Sadly my friends, my mistress is not alone in this thought. You could probably care less about such simple things as my superior, but the people themselves are subject to sway the influence Helm holds over these lands. Look upon the volume of your regular masses and then look upon your own faces in the mirror. Can you truly state openly to your own gaze staring back that the people hold the faith they once did. I will give you the benefit of the doubt in assuming that you are all not foolish enough to believe such.
I will not deny all you have done over the many years of Sundren’s history. Credit shall be given where credit is due. My mistress believes this as well. You have done well to provide a shield for the people. In many ways your have no doubt made the Vigilant One proud to have given his blessings upon you. However a shield can only do so much, and when a knight merely relies upon his shield, there soon comes a doubt as to whether or not he is capable or brave enough to use his sword. Please make note that I insinuate nothing, as I have personally not lost my respect for you. I simply speak what I see from those you are charged to protect.
A fated battle is upon us. It is one you no doubt have heard of and are perhaps preparing in some way for. The forces of Xithis will strike soon. The location is unknown, the specific day or hour is unknown. Rest assured however it is close and it will be a battle unlike anything Sundren has seen before, for it shall decide the fate of the entire land itself. Your forces are capable. Your soldiers are willing and strong. I request that you help us smite the remains of all that is evil and darkness once and for all. Bear not only the shield of Helm, but the sword as well. Prove to the people and my mistress what you are capable of. Two squads of able men are all that may be necessary. I shall keep in contact with you if you desire for me to provide whatever information my associates and I discover.
If you cooperate, rest assured I shall personally spread word of your deeds and heroism. You have my word. The people will have renewed hope for the sword of Helm. If you wish to work together, please respond by sending a letter to the Temple of Oghma. Do not place a name upon the envelope. Simple colour the envelope gold, and I shall know it is from you.
I pray for your aid. The people of this land must be kept safe.
Sincerely,
Rook
