  • A letter to the rangers of the outpost.

    *A wolf pads up the stairs to the Ranger Outpost, and after sniffing around for a few minutes it sits at Bullseye’s feet. A rough-made roll of parchment is tied around the wolf’s neck. After the letter is removed, the wolf turns and trots to stairs leading to the forest floor and disappears into the thick canopy of trees.*

    ---

    Bullseye,

    I’d have spoken with you face to face, but am recovering fr{indecipherable due to blood smears}erday.

    Do not think this was due to carelessness or underdeveloped senses, this may be a sign of things to come if we let our attention to the surrounding lands falter. Dire Bears are not usually found this close to well traveled paths as you know, which makes me think he was driven from his territory by something larger or something unnatural.

    I’ve found the presence of dire animals so close to the border of the forest troubling since I arrived, but a four ton dire bear I found alarming.

    I am not unthankful for the weeks of blood and sweat spent constructing your outpost, but we must depart the road that the church of Helm and Triumvirate are traveling, who seem most concerned with protecting their own buildings and donation boxes. They are doing many good things and are worthy allies, but the short of it is that the well being of the land and the forest falls to us and the Druids and we are doing slim job of it. The r{indecipherable due to blood smears}ither, and the Exigo Syndicate provides much, but they do not share our priorities.

    Mossclaw Meet, despite regular raids, continues to stand and remains as crossroads of a sort for the Grimaxe, Stonegarb and Muckspear. I’ve not seen one natural animal outside of the grove, does this not fill you with anger and dread … or have you not left the outpost long enough to notice? I am not passing judgment. I seek only to jar like minded people from their complacence.
    Despi{indecipherable}ion I will continue to range Mossclaw Meet and the Forest border, if you wish to send me a reply, have it buried at the base of the third elm from the bridge that leads to Mossclaw Meet.

    {a small, smudged quickly drawn map follows showing the location}

    May the wind guide you to your path, and the sun light the way.
