  • Call of the Wild

As night begins to fall on the Gate of the Sunderer, Cora Kelm makes her way down along the Pioneer's road. Ever adorning her Lost Myrmidon armor and the sword of House Aurelianus hefted over her right shoulder, she keeps looking to the wilds along the path for signs of her companion. Several minutes pass until the wind changes and she catches a faint but familiar scent in the air. She turns off the beaten path and walks some ways until she comes to a stop.

Cora then cranes her neck back, summons all the air she can take in with a single breath, and lets out a howl that pierces through the night sky. Several moments pass until another howl answers her. She turns towards the directions of the noise and smiles as a pair of glowing yellow eyes appear among the nearby brush.

Sliding her sword into the scabbard on her back, Cora kneels down and holds her hand out to her friend as his sleek, brown form pads over to her. She wraps her arms about his neck and scratches behind his ears. "It's good to see you again, Cal. I trust you have been faring well with your new pack?"

The wolf responds by twisting his head back and forth in her arms and letting out another howl. In the distance, several more howls can be heard in answer to the call.

"That's good. I'm glad you're fitting in well in Sundren. Now, I have a favor to ask you, Cal. Will you listen?" she releases her grip on the wolf and sits back on her heels.

The wolf in turn pads a few steps away, spins about in a circle, then locks his eyes onto hers.

She smiles, "Thank you, Cal. Now listen... I need you to carry a message a message to your pack and, if they are willing, to travel far and wide across the valley and bring my message to any druids that remain that would hear it. Tell them that two servants of the unicorns wish to speak with them. Though we were never part of their circle, we spent much time in the Viridale and were guests within the Grove before it fell. We wish to aid them in restoring the balance and cleansing the poison of Talona that tainted it."

Cora takes a moment to catch her breath before continuing. "If they would join us, if they have not given up, they are to meet us within the ruins of the abandoned fort of the legion when the moon is full." She turns to point at the night sky and then towards the western horizon. "We will be waiting for them there."

Cora looks back to her friend and tilts her head to the right as she regards him. "Can you do this for me, Cal, please?"

The wolf spins once more in a circle, rears up on his hind legs, stamps his fore paws on the ground, and then rears his head back to howl long into the night sky. After that, he darts into the brush and vanishes into the night, his howls echoing in the wind.

"Thank you, Cal!" Cora calls after him as she stands back up. A wide smile on her face, she hefts her sword onto her shoulder and heads back to the path.

((This is a call to all players of nature based characters that would like to join myself and Raksha in our PC initiative to either reform the Wardens of the Vale or create a new nature based faction. There has been talk among the staff on the forums to a possible revival of the nature faction, so we're doing our part to get things started.

    Nature Faction 2: Electric Boogaloo

Druids, Rangers, and Clerics with the animal domain will be able to hear the call for a meeting. The actual "time" of the full moon will be determined once we get the get go from the DMs on staff.))
It is better to try and fail than to never try at all. Those who never try are cursed to wonder what might have been.
