Honored members of the Order of Tyr in Amn,
I trust this missive reaches you in good time, and that the subject matter detailed herein is viewed with an open mind and exclusively by members of the Order.
My name is Usil Vessan and I write you this letter from the halls of the Triumvirate in the lands of Sundren. Six months ago, in the city of Amn, I was brought up on charges of extortion, racketeering, and kidnapping with the intent of selling citizens into slavery. I wish to state for the record that these charges are patently false, and have been erroneously levied against me by both my former employer, and a corrupt element within the judicial system in Amn. I have related the events surrounding the charges against me to the honorable Masters Luther and Melchior of the Triumvirate. They granted me residence here and have requested that I write you in regards to my possible status as fugitive in Amn, and to explain my version of events. It is my understanding that Brother Drenn was investigating the company I was employed with and the corrupt judicial wing who tried and sentenced me. I trust that Brother Drenn has submitted his investigation to the Order by now and, since it is not my wish to re-iterate any previously given information, I would relate my part in the story.
During the course of my tenure to my former employer I carried out many dishonest, dishonorable, and unjust acts in the simple pursuit of monetary gain. As time went on I grew to become more and more uncomfortable with the nature of my work. The guilt at having wronged so many innocent people began to weigh on me heavily. It was towards the end of my service to this company that I learned a terrible truth: my employer was engaged in the practice of slavery. I do not wish to go into detail, but the depraved appetites of my employers clients and the abhorrent nature of this slavery still disturbs me greatly to this day. Suffice to say I decided to turn on my employer with the intent of revealing his crimes to the authorities. Unbeknownst to me at the time was the level of influence he wielded with the courts. Instead of seeing him brought to justice I was accused of the aforementioned charges. It was with the help of Brother Drenn that I was able to escape my wrongful captivity, discover my new found faith and belief in justice, and set on the path to Sundren.
If it pleases the Order I would wish to return to Amn to further assist any investigations into my former employer, and to submit myself to the court to answer for my crimes against the citizens of Amn. Until such a time I would remain in service to the Triad here in Sundren in the sincere hopes that I can help to atone for the wrongs I have previously committed. I humbly sumbmit to your judgement on these matters Honored members.
