  • Hin's Pride vs a Warrior's Honor.

"Too late..." The thought plagued Hano's mind with worry as the events that just transpired rushed through the Paladin's head.

So set in her ways and her arrogance... Even after aiding in the escape of the wanted man Logan.

Even as she worked against the ones who loved her by doing so.

Justifying her actions by attacking the Paladin's sense of duty and even bolder; Snow Hawk's honor. Hano could bear her insults and accusations though -- This day and age Paladins were often looked at as tools to hide behind, figure-heads to insult when they fail to uphold God-like perfection. He was used to this. Used to everyone second guessing him, pointing their fingers trying to inform the Paladin of his duties, as if they too were Paladins.

In fact, he couldn't recall how many times he had to listen to strangers... And even dear friends as they try to rationalize the Paladin's actions and beliefs into being unlawful, and even then, evil. He could forgive them, though, this was part of the path he had chosen so long ago, but Snow Hawk was different...

...He couldn't let her get away with insulting his honor and betraying the trust he had in her. He, for his honor, had to call her out for a duel; to the crossroads. Despite this, though, Hano knew that he was torn. Between friendship and honor -- Both weighing heavily in the Samurai's heart.

Oh so set in her arrogance... She went to the crossroads and continued to insult his honor. Pointing and waving her finger at the Samurai who only wished her to apologize. It shouldn't have come to this, but the hin refused to swallow her pride.

She refused to be wrong, even to spare the heart of a friend.

There's no kind way of putting it; she fucked up. It was all a trail of shit; the insults, the arrogance, and it all lead to this one final mistake. The single spell cast that provoked the start of the battle.

...It didn't take long... Eighteen seconds. Beaten to an inch of her life with the blunt end of his Katana to have her life spared at the whim of the samurai.

Hano could feel the tears work their way to his eyes, but he managed to cloak them under a facade of apathy. Something he, as a Paladin, learned to do well. Almost too well.

All he could do as the hin laid broken before the crossroad's fire was ask Snow Hawk to take his leave... Beginning to speak his systematic bullshit to Sol, as Osclow tried to comfort her. Despite what he truly wanted to do, what he really wanted to say.

And, of course, the Knight was rejected and turned away by both of them, but he didn't hesitate. He turned away, continuing down the road with his hands clasped behind his back.

"You held your facade, swallowed your emotions -- Good Paladin. Keep it up. Even if the skies show no remorse for your plight, raining down on you relentlessly -- Good Paladin."

He pauses before entering the Trade Post, clutching his forehead while muttering under his breath. "...I've done what you asked, Mizrahi... I looked after her, and even when my heart screamed, begging me to intervene, crying for me to carry her... I didn't. I didn't hold her hand. She alone brought on what happened, and she suffered the consequences.

"She won't hide behind me, even if..."
He cuts himself short daring not to speak the rest. Slowly lowering his hand he looks to the skies alight from the lightening crashing down on the valley.

"...She'll hate me for this, but... She'll grow stronger, right?"
    "Kaeldorn hates players." -Albert Einstein
