I suspect them to still be uncommon but a pack of basilisks attacked my fellowship as we traveled the forest. If you know nothing of these creatures, avert your eyes from their gaze. They will turn you to stone which will last a lifetime if you do not take heed. Two of our companions fell to such a fate and only magic that will turn stone to flesh will cure them.
Beware of huge vipers as well. They must have been feeding on gnoll carrion for their size and poison will strike down an orc. They laid in wait by the campfire presumably attracted by its heat. Never let your guard down even at rest.
