Training himself to be an experienced Semper, Jos'iah used his master's teleportation stone to bring him to Sundren. He has brought himself there many times before but his aim has begun to change.
At first it was to understand the others... the other races from beyond the tomes for Haldamar is a home of sun elves alone. His curiosity piqued him though and he sought them out. And he has met them all: half-orcs, humans, halflings, half-elves, dwarves and the rest. He cannot say that he fully understands them but his desire to visit Sundren again has changed.
It is wanderlust in part but it is becoming to be much more. The undead have begun to encroach upon his city's walls. They seem to be getting past the magics that hide Haldamar's borders. Those that draw too close are easily dispatched by the Semper sentries. But his people are still too confident in their centuries-old magics.
Jos'iah feels uneasy though. He must learn to battle for a battle hasn't been fought by the other Sempers for centuries. If these few undead can get past the magics, will more come? He desires not to wait until it is too late. He must train. And he must train in the field of battle.
He has met many a friend in Sundren at this point. Brak, Amber Rose, Syl, Cirion, Pom, Varnz, Ariel... too many to list. In his latest trek into the orc lands with Amber, Syl, and the rest, a fierce melee ensued. Caught unaware by the orc chieften that recently arrived, the chief's entourage cast spell after spell. Fierce battle raged.
Alas, Jos'iah fell after a spell immobilized him and the chief cut him down. It would've been the end for the young Semper but a strange divine force caught hold of him. Without much fanfare or glory, he found himself suddenly awake at a human church in Sundren. His wounds gone. His memory unscathed.
It is then he realized that the gods have willed him to stay in Sundren. To what ultimate goal, he has yet to learn but Sundren is where he will stay...
