Description:
This man stands five feet, seven inches tall and has a trim, well taken care of build. He has typical moon elf blue hair and green eyes; however, the fair complexion of his skin is a giveaway to his half-eleven heritage. In addition to his skin, Respen’s ears are more typical of a half-elf than the long pointy shape of elven ears. Overall, the man has a rather handsome appearance.
Respen has two primarily distinct looks – one when travelling in the wild and one when spending time around a city or town. When travelling in the wild, he is outfitted in either hide leather or a chain shirt (of which appears to be a standard issue militia make). At his side, he carries a single long sword with a short bow and quiver across his back.
When he is seen in a civilized area, he is dressed in well tailored clothing however, the clothing is not always kept in the best of shape. If he had a defining feature, it would be the ever present yarting in his hands or strapped to his back. When he is not playing or tuning it, Respen will often be buried in a book either reading or writing.
Regardless if he is in the wild or a civilized area, a small scroll case is always hanging from his right side.
Respen speaks common very well, with almost no detectable accent. He speaks common with a flair that is typical of stage performers. His elven, however, is dryly spoken (although much better when singing) with a human accent (which elves will easily be able to detect).
It is clear he does not mind a crowd and activity seeks it, whether for information, to perform or even general curiosity.
Basic Background:
Respen was born in the small town of Daggerford to a human father and a moon elf mother. Both of his parents were adventurers who still adventured well into his teenage years. When they would leave for an adventure, Respen was sent to Waterdeep to stay with his half aunt (on his father’s side), Kerri Amblecrown (married).
Kerri was member of the temple of Oghma in Waterdeep where she first got Respen interested in the quest of knowledge. Furthermore, Kerri was also a half-elf so he easily identified with her. In addition to her work at the temple, Kerri was also a stage performer, which was who Respen learned his ability from. Respen’s first yarting was a gift from Kerri for his birthday.
When Respen became old enough, he spent some time in the in the Militia in Daggerford. This was not a life that he desired, so he said good bye to his parents and moved to Waterdeep. After a few years of time with the temple of Oghma and learning from his aunt, he left Waterdeep to travel north and eventually made his way to Sundren.
Goals:
Respen’s primary goal is knowledge. He seeks out as much as he can and can often get too involved in others business.
In addition to his general search for knowledge, he is also looking to write a book of lore. Knowing that it requires the donation of an expensive book to enter Candlekeep, he is seeking write his own and avoid the cost. He hasn’t yet chosen a topic.
Lastly, he is always writing his own music, songs and poems for others to enjoy.

- Respen’s bardic magical ability can be traced back though his half aunt Kerri. Her great great great grandmother was actually a fey, making Respen 1/64 fey.
- Both of Respen’s parents are still alive and very much support his chosen life.
