The ship rocked gently as it came to rest next to the long dock and the small Hin peered nervously at the bustling port town. He had never been particularly good with people, and looking upon the teeming humanity that packed the streets of the town made even the close confines of the boat seem preferable. He could not, however, be deterred. He had set out to find a place where he could make a name for himself, and he was here. Certainly this city was a sign of the general conforts and civilization, but if stories held true, it was nothing more than a tiny bastion of that civilization; standing defiently against the savage wilds of the land beyond. It was that land, that unknown adventure that the Hin longed for. If he had to endure the crushing scrutiny of those around him a while longer to get there, then so be it...he could endure a little longer.
The sound of the gang-plank dropping to the dock jarred the Hin from his thoughts and he quickly picked up his meager belongings before darting quickly ahead of the lumbering humans around him. Getting stuck in a line when you're a third of the size of those around you is never a pleasant experiance, and often results in injury. The Hin scowled slightly as memories came back to him, but he quickly pushed them aside as he reached the end of the dock and was assailed by merchants, peddlers, and a general wall of humanity that marked the open Markets of the Port city. Glancing to and fro, the small Hin took a deep breath and vanished into the crowd.
