((Vincent Valsevven is one of the first characters I ever made, back from AD&D.))
A wood elf raised by humans in the lands of Erlkazar. During the persecution of the elves, Vincent's birthparents were killed. The men who did this found young Vincent with them, who was only months old. Feeling a sense of pity, they took the child home with them back to their village.
Raised by a loving human couple who could not conceive children on their own, Vincent enjoyed a typical, happy existence among his new human town. When his adoptive parents passed on due to old-age, Vincent became a child of the town, being raised by generation after generation.
Over the years he learned a few simple trades that the town required. Logging, mining, fishing. But what he enjoyed the most was learning swordplay, and serving as a guard. When he matured at 120 years old, Vincent said goodbye to his hometown, and set off into the world to find himself.
The next ten years took place elsewhere ((in the AD&D campaign)), where he underwent many hardships. He was hardened against loss and sadness, due to seeing so many of his friends and family pass on from short life spans, and that protected his mind against the horrors and evils he faced. Along the way, he picked up a masterwork sword. Nothing special. But later the blade revealed its magical powers to him, laying dormant until it was within the right hands.
Finding himself to be chosen by Torm, for reasons he doesn't fully understand, Vincent wielded the mighty claymore known as "Lightbringer." This blade was a foe of all things undead and demonic, containing blessed enchantments, and was powerful in its own right against other enemies. Vincent often thought of himself as little more than a sword-caddy at points, a simple tool being used by Torm. But the sword gave him the ability to fight for those that he cared about, and so he pressed on.
After a gruesome battle in a place known as "the Cold Dark," Vincent came up against a powerful and dangerous demon lord. He barely won the battle, but it cost him dearly. Much of his ability and experience was drained during the encounter, leaving him little more than a novice adventurer. The blade Lightbringer was sapped as well, losing all of its divine power.
Though weary from many hardships, Vincent still drives forward, seeking friendship, booze, and adventure. Anything to keep his mind off the horrors and loss of his past. He still carries the Lightbringer, though it is little more than a common greatsword, feeling bonded to the blade. Now and then he still feels a little of Torm's pull from the sword.
The Lightbringer seeks to be restored to its former glory, hungrily devouring the magics of other blades it is left in contact with for too long, and feeding off any temporary enchantments placed upon it.
Vincent has a fondness for the color red. He has a "thing" for red robes, which he likes to wear over his armor. People have mistakenly thought of him as being affiliated to Thay in the past because of this.
