An armor-clad woman named Ruby stood right in front of the Bjorn by the campfire. It was just the two of them and the Legionnaire's thoughts escaped his mind. The only thing that mattered to him was the woman with the pretty blue eyes who stood before him. The fire and everything else in the world seemed to melt away spare the two of them.

“Remove the hood.” Ruby's lips curved into a smile as she commanded him.

Bjorn wanted to protest, he wanted to stop her, but he could not do anything but obey. The dark red hood fell to his shoulders and his mask lowered around his neck. Ruby's fingers ran alongside Legionnaire's bare neck as she reached behind his head and pulled him closer. A thought protruded his cloudy mind, the visage of the woman he loved, but it vanished as a sharp pang filled his body. He felt a warmth at his neck and it began to trickle down the side of his body. The metallic smell of blood filled the air.

After having her fill, the blue-eyed woman shoved him away, reached for her amulet and vanished into the darkness. Bjorn was left on the ground, too weak from blood loss to move. He desperately held on to his neck to stop the bleeding as he fumbled through his satchel for scrolls of Sending. He needed to reach someone. Daylight began to break apart the darkness and through blurry eyes he watched another woman approach him. Her familiar mithral armor warmed his heart, he was relieved and felt safe. He looked up at the woman longingly as he reached up to her with a weak hand. She did not reach back, instead her blade singed as it was drawn from its sheath.

“Tainted.” Was the only word she muttered before her blade plunged into his chest.

Bjorn jolted upright in his bed, breathing rapidly, his body soaked in cold-sweat. Several nights have passed since he was bitten, and the nightmare came every time he slept. He did not know which he was afraid of more, the vampires or being turned into one and being slain by the woman he loves. The latter was highly unlikely from what he was told, but the idea never stopped nagging at him. As his breath steadied, he looked to his left to see if he had roused his lover. The young woman was still sleeping, or at least looked as if she was still sleeping with her back turned to him. Bjorn smiled fondly at her before easing himself back into bed.

“Another sleepless night.” He thought to himself as he stared up at the ceiling.
