Never betray your trust. Be vigilant. Stand, wait, and watch carefully. Be fair and diligent in the conduct of your orders.
I have arrived in the Valley of Sundren, where I was sent, via teleportation made possible by my House's wizard. My first impressions are rather mixed.
First of all: I did not appear, as I had guessed, in the middle of the city, but on the outskirts. I made my way to the Second Wind Inn, where I took a moment to collect my bearings. Inquiry with the tavernkeeper (one Jack Calico) taught me that I was close to the city itself, but that the lands surrounding the tavern were wrought with danger.
As I studied the books I have brought on this Valley, to find out what I would be facing, a paladin joined me by the fire. He turned out to be one of the Loyal Fury, and an educated man. I called him upon the Debt of Persecution, and bade him to tell me of the Legion. What he told me proved little different from what my books had already told me.
Fortune smiled upon this encounter, however - the man could not only escort me safely to the Military Ward of the city, where the Legion's headquarters stands, but is also related to one of the Centurio of the city, one Emiliana Blackwell. I must admit I was surprised to find a woman of such beauty clad in a full plated mail. I will admit that for a moment, I entertained the notion that donations of some kind had bought her her position, but I turned out to be wrong. When a nearby Clerk and Watchman began testing my patience - as they should test any recruit's -, the woman's sharp tongue lashed out.
Both men drooped off as if they had just had their pants pulled down in public by their mothers, and lain over the knee right then and there. This Centurio is certainly not one to be trifled with. It was a pleasure to note as such, to note that the Legion has such standards for its officers.
The downside to this was that her prediction came true: Watchmaster Heinrich assigned me to a mission in the Sundren Sewers. While I have already taken it upon myself to buy rags for this mission, I must admit not looking forward to this heinous task. But I defer to Your Holy Words, my Lord, and I will fulfill these orders.
