Darcy sat at the desk in her room, thinking about the long discussion she'd had, and how it came back to the Gods.
Had, indeed, most of the Gods turned a blind eye to Sundren?
She had seen proof with her own eyes that several had not, especially Colibrus and Kelemvor, but they could not turn from the valley, both were a large part of the turmoil of war to come. What of the Gods who were not of the Death War? The ones outside of Kelemvor, Myrkul, Colibrus and Bane?
When all was said and done, and the war had ended, and whether Myrkul returned or not, would the rest of the Gods look at their followers in Sundren and indeed remove their gifts from them? Would the healers of the valley, currently numbered as many, suddenly drop to only a select few?
Would the valley finally respect death as the end it is, and not as something inconveniencing and costly, but all too temporary to so many who lived here?
She had even admitted that if Myrkul were to return only in the valley, and Kelemvor could still keep the dead of the rest of Faerun, it might be better for the souls that lived here. If they would not respect death, perhaps they should fear it!
Her faith in the Gods was not what she doubted, it was the lost souls of the valley that her faith could not hold....
