  • The musings of a Glunklerift

Gordy Glunklerift stretched his feet upwards, arching them into a tiptoe stance, and stretching to a full four feet and an inch so he could lean on the hot stone of the firepit wall, the fabric of the banner he had brought forth from the Mossdale fluttering gently above his head in the convection current of heated air. Only a few moments passed before his face grew uncomfortably hot and flushed, forcing him to once again withdraw into the cooler air, only to repeat the cycle when he grew chilly. All the time, Pane the rabbit merely slept on the floor, his back paw twitching as he dreamed of some exciting game or glorious meal. Such simple desires these creatures held, despite his being far more intelligent than the average human.

After a number of repetitions of this action, the tiny wizard took to pacing, his stature as straight as a die, and his hands neatly clasped behind his back as a man of discipline and method. Despite his calm and measured exterior however, he was in fact, furious. The redness in his face was not entirely due to the naked flames dancing before his eyes, but due to the horrendous lack of respect he had been shown by those pathetic Colibrii. Refusal to turn him into a vampire was the lowest form of disrespect, and were he not so alone and desperate, he would have made it his personal goal to see them bleed their vampiric blood all over the stone floors of the necropolis crypts. But he was alone and desperate. The following of Myrkul in this valley was weak and feeble, and he needed to stand as a banner above them, spurring them onto the inevitable rise of the death lord.

And that rise was becoming tangible. Mathell, once a proud follower of Kelemvor the False, was now on their side. Channelling the energy of Myrkul in the same way he once channelled the sadly ebbing essence of the usurper, he stood as a beacon of light amidst the darkness - join Myrkul or fall by his hand. Gordy was pleased at the addition of such a powerful man to their ranks, and a certain level of secure comfort had bred in his belly, but it did not quiet the furious fire bubbling under his heart as he once again thought of those vampires.

"One thing at a time Pane." He muttered under his breath. "First we deal with Myrkul. The crown is at hand, I can practically feel its energies from here. Once it is uncovered... I will discover my own way to immortality..." He stroked the spine of a black book, bound in leather with the words "Librisae Mortisae" etched on the cover in gold.

Bored with his musings, he took a pinch from his belt pouch, swinging his arm in a wide circle, which in turn caused reality to tear within the circle's boundary, leaving a dark blue shimmering dimension door there, waiting his step through. "Come along, Pane." He spoke loudly, waking the bunny, who jumped and immediately hopped his way to the diminutive powerhouse. Gordy nodded in satisfaction and stepped through, walking directly into the depths of the earth. The caretaker's voice could be heard insanely babbling over the furious digging and grunting of a large number of umber hulks, and Gordy's face broke into a smile behind his masked hood. So, so soon... he thought to himself.
    Zorien Rhys - Whatever...

Gordy Glunklerift - There is no greater discipline nor intellectual endeavour than the pursuit of magical aptitude and knowledge. And that makes me better than you, so there.
