Now that he was back in Sundren everything look exactly the same, but at the same time it all seemed different somehow. Trying to heal from his ordeal, he made a deal with Mordin of the Four Lanterns to stay in his supply room in exchange for daily mundane chores. Chores that included washing dishes and scrubbing floors during his recooperation. Once a respected member of the Sundren community, he was now reduced to scrubbing the floors they walked on. But his choices were limited at best, as he had given away everything he owned to the ones he cared for before he left, and was to weak to do anything else. He did his best to hide this fact, when he heard someone come in, he would be sitting at a table, leaving the chores for when the traffic was least. Arawen would visit him daily. She would help comfort him, and made sure he was eating. But what she thought was a lack of appetite was actually the lack of funds to afford the daily necessities such as food. But his pride could not, and would not bear this fact to her. She was the light of his life, how could he. He did begin to notice certain changes in her affections to him. Little things such as a touch of the hand that is pulled away a little quicker than use to, conversation a little less intimate and shorter then normal. he thought it had to do with her worries of his weakened state, but little did he know the true reasons. After a short period he began to go out on his own to try to gain some of his strength back, short and quick adventures, but he beagan to notice that it was costing him more than he could make by doing so. But still he remained delligent as he began to gain strength. Then one day as he was returning from one of these short adventures, Arawen was waiting for him, upset, asked him where he had been. The only answer he could give was exercising, which she could tell by the blood stained clothes he was still wearing was a lie. But she didn't push the matter and let it slide. The following afternoon she showed up at the Inn to find him sitting at the table once again. Seemingly hesitant with her words, he could tell something was bothering her. After a long conversation she finally broke down and told him what was bothering her. During his absence she had found another. Thinking he was dead this friend of hers had been there to console her and help her through this time of grief. Upon hearing this Bassman showed only pain, sadness, and a seeming understanding of her predicament, but inside he had a burning rage at this friend of hers, that he successfully kept tucked away. As he felt a tear roll down his cheek and hers, she said goodbye and left, saying she would return the next day. With the final tie broken, and him living on the streets by now the decision had been made. He needed to start over, a thing that he couldn't do in Sundren, or so he felt. The only decision left to be made was where to, Baulders Gate, was the decision he made. So with his decision made he made his goodbyes, saving the hardest for last, Arawen. It was a heart wrenching scene filled with anger, sadness, and despair. But there was no alternative for him, and he gave no choice for her.
