Appearance
A young, and undeniably handsome, man. He has a somewhat boyish look, always dressed in finery. He is extremely confident, and adept at manipulating events to suit him. Though he is a Tiefling it is widely believed that he is a Half-Elf, an image that he perpetuates for obvious reasons. To hide the jagged and curled horns on his head, he wears a stylish hat, fixed firmly on his head. The hat itself magically increases his already considerable charms. He is average height, and slight of build, lithe and attractive, though not physically strong. He moves with a casual grace, a strut, full of confidence.
Personality
Beguiling and handsome, he is outwardly friendly to nearly everyone he meets. He takes great pleasure in surrounding himself with beautiful and successful people, feeding off their successes to fuel his own ends. A master manipulator, he lies and charms his way into the confidences of anyone that he can use, gaining everything he can from them, before discarding them. He is hopelessly flirtatious, using subtle, and not so subtle, advances to hide his true intentions in many cases. It is almost rare that he passes a woman without at least a subtle advance, as he delights in a glutinous, indulgent lifestyle.
Kavos is cruelly intelligent. Well read, and mannered, he is both uncaring and merciless. Dangerous to anyone dealing with him, he delights in causing suffering and pain. He possesses powerful, and dark, magics. These gifts gained from Pacts with various powerful demons, though his most powerful, and devious, powers are his natural charms. A being of Chaos, he is consumed by the desire to topple any form order, wishing to shape Fearun after the Abyss itself.
Background
Origin
Much of Kavos' early years are shrouded in mystery. His birth parents are both unknown, and it is unclear how he came to be in Selgaunt. Kavos' adoptive father, Halasar Tal'Ressin, a renowned mage of the region, scoured the region for any clues as to his background for many years, finding nothing. It wasn't for several months that his new father suspected anything was different about him, thinking any of his more curious antics were born of his time alone on the streets, or his wayward parents, despite his curious appearance. The young boys chest looked hard, and fused, and looked as if it were growing scales, while strange spots and scales began to form on the top of the boys head. These curios only served to endear him to his new found father.
It was one time, when Kavos' father brought home a small puppy for his son, that Halasar truly appreciated the reality. On the first night alone with the animal, the small child viciously dismembered it, smearing its blood savagely on his person, laughing and playing with the animal when his father walked in. It was shortly after that his curling horns began to show.
Instead of being horrified, and giving up his child, Halasar kept the boy, determined to understand. Not a man to worry about the morality, or other consequences of his actions, Kavos' father set out on what would be his final research. If he knew anything revealing, it was never known to Kavos, but little his father did was. Kavos spent much of his adolescence following his father, learning much about the intricacies of magic at various guilds and universities. Often left behind, to his own devices, Kavos saw more of the cities then his father intended, and it became evident that he was an extraordinarily mischievous boy. His father kept him close, and taught Kavos many things, taught him to keep his true nature hidden, taught him to blend in...
Sundarian History
Kavos' coming to Sundren was no accident, though to his caravan it may have seemed so. His treachery led the wagons to the Gate, on their way to Icewind Dale, where he left them. In the time since his arrival, Kavos has been involved in any intrigue that he can, weaving a thick web of lies and manipulations that tie in near a half dozen organizations into a single complex plot. Though his desire for granduer has been his undoing in the past, he has been quite successful, and remains supremely confidant in his abilities.
