How To
Connecting
- If you have not created a Neverwinter Nights 2 multiplayer account before, see below. First, you need to boot up NWN2. Click the shortcut that the installation created on your desktop. Proceed to click "Play". This will, after a lengthy introduction scene, bring you to the NWN2 main menu. Here, you need to click the "Multiplayer" button.
This brings us to the "Bioware Community Login". If you already have a login, you need to enter it here and press "Sign In." If this is not the case, I will walk you through the few easy steps for creating one.
First of all, you need to press "Create New Account" in the lower left corner of the screen. This will bring up a box for creating an account. In the first box, you enter your desired username. In the following two boxes, you enter your password, making sure it appears exactly the same in both boxes. Then, you need to input your email address, and once again make sure they match. You will not need to go to your email to play though. The email address is only used in case you forget your password. Now, click "Ok." This will cause the server to register and authorize for a bit. After checking your version and such, it will gate you on to the multiplayer interface.
To access Sundren from here, you need to click "Direct Connect" and enter the following: "nwn.sundren.org" . It is very important that you type it all in correctly. Alternatively you can find us under the Roleplay category in the gamespy list. Once you join the server the autodownloader from NWN2 will automatically sync and retrieve all Sundren files to play on the server. This may take time depending on your connection speed.
There, that is it! You're now set up and ready to access Sundren! You might want to proceed to create a character.
First time
When you first log into Sundren, after creating your character, you will be at a caravan. This is a small cut-scene of how you have come to be in Sundren. When landed you will be given three levels to start yourself off with and basic equipment; potions, weapon and even a 'Travellers Guide to Sundren' which we suggest you read if you are new to Sundren.
Places and people
The starting place for Sundren is the busy Gate of the Sunderer. This gate is the main entrance for all trade and visitors into the valley proper. To get to the more civilized areas, you'll have to journey down Pioneer's Road until you hit the Second Wind Inn. This is a hub for adventurers to gather and trade bits of small talk as well as goods and services. The road up until the inn then splits, with one path heading into the Exigo Expedition Post, and the other heading down Tyr's Fork until you hit the main crossroads, and the world map.
Leveling
Sundren is a place of many different people and as you pass through the game you will notice that people and enemies have different attacks, conversations, and interests. If you want to find out about an area, explore! There should never be a place you feel is off limits to your character. If enemies are too tough on entering an area, back off and learn more about it before venturing in again. The wilderness can be an unforgiving place for early adventurers.
Up until you are level six is the threshold in which the resting system comes in place were you can only rest every 10 minutes unless in a resting area and is also your maximum level for the first time of playing the game. Over time your maximum level increases so don't think it is always like that. The next main threshold is level 11 in which the other death rules come in - See here. Finally you will reach level 20 after enough time playing and roleplaying. At this point you can get no more XP from kills but only from quest and DM experience.
